The site is located within the Stoneygate area of Preston City Centre. Measuring approximately 0.55ha the site represents one of the few remaining opportunities of a clear brownfield site within the city centre with tremendous development potential.
The development comprises 294 unit of residential apartments in a mix of one-beds and two-beds. There are a range of apartment sizes and layouts, creating variety and appeal to occupiers. Moreover, vehicle parking on the basement floors and a shared garden area on the courtyard level are provided. The courtyard space with integrated planting areas, seating options and landscaped green areas offers a usable and enjoyable amenity for the residents.
The design concept supports the Stoneygate Regeneration Framework for the delivery of a high-quality, sustainable ‘urban village’ environment reflecting the distinctive character of the area, whilst creating new linkages to and around the area, particularly for pedestrians and cyclists. The development also successfully meets the objectives of the Preston City Centre Plan, the Preston Housing Zone and the associated City Living Strategy and Prospectus.
During the committee meeting Councillor David Borrow stated,
“Looking back over last 10-years we won’t have imagined development of this quality and size coming in for residential development. I think that’s really positive and I’m very impressed with the quality of this.”
