ROCCIA Flagship Showroom
Roccia has been trading successfully from the site since 2010. There is a need to expand the display and retail capacity of the business as well as the associated office and welfare provision. As part of the development the client wishes to reconfigure the entrance and parking arrangement to the site.
The massing of the building is simple yet efficient in form. Two cuboids converge, meet and interlock at the middle of the site. The middle part forms the new main entrance into the building , as well as circulation space between floors. This allows our client the flexibility to subdivide the additional floor space into different showrooms or functions according to their needs.
The exterior of the building appears monolithic yet rhythmic and lively. This is achieved by adopting a subtle skewing gesture to the building form that is echoed by the fenestration design along the main frontage. In the day, the curtain wall allows natural daylight into the showroom to simulate a more realistic home environment; whilst in the evening, the showroom illuminates from within and is visible to passers-by and potential customers.
