Preston based David Cox Architects is pleased to announce two promotions to strengthen the senior leadership team.
Steven Gallagher has stepped up to become director with a remit of leading the studio in conjunction with David Cox. Following six years at the architectural practice, previously as associate, he has been integral in shaping a strong and stable client base and has a resolute focus on design excellence, service delivery and commercial awareness. Skilled in large scale multi-use projects, often complex in nature, Steven has most recently worked on student living accommodation, private residential and landmark community-led developments.
Helen Knott joined the business in 2017 and has been promoted to associate. Increased responsibilities include internal business management and ensuring successful delivery of projects across the studio. Helen brings a particular focus on energy efficient low-carbon design following her becoming Preston’s first Certified Passive House Designer last year. As a committee member of the Forum for the Built Environment Lancashire branch, she will continue her keen promotion of the region and wider industry networking. Helen joins Jamil Ahmed who is currently an associate in the practice.
The studio is celebrating a particularly positive period with a strong order book across the residential and commercial sectors. Involved in stand-out building projects in its home city and across Lancashire, including Stoneygate Central and PR1, the team also works across the wider northern region. The highly anticipated Wildes Chester luxury boutique hotel and restaurant scheme in Chester city centre is currently awaiting a planning decision, and the team recently brought home a Northern Design Award for student living scheme Nurtur House in Sheffield.
Founded in the 1930s, the practice has undergone several name changes and the good news continues as this year marks its ten-year anniversary under the brand David Cox Architects.
David Cox, director, commented “Steven and Helen have played a significant role in the practice and these promotions are richly deserved. Broadening the identity of the business and consolidating the new senior leadership team is a positive step forward and we are all excited to shape the future of the practice together.
“We’ll be celebrating these promotions, and our anniversary milestone, with an event later in the year in Preston for our clients, contacts and industry friends, so watch this space”.
