Last week we have had the pleasure of welcoming work experience student Maarya to David Cox Architects. Currently studying at Preston Muslim Girls School Maarya is interested in design and the built form and was keen to learn about our studio environment and current projects.
Mentored by Jamie over the five days, Maarya’s first task was to research and discover a style of architecture that she found of personal interest. Based on this she started to form her bespoke design which would be the focus during her time with us. With some of her influences stemming from traditional houses with classical central courtyards in areas such as Spain and Morocco, she started to produce her design with concept sketches and then quickly progressed onto using BIM software to present her project.
Design development also included using software programmes such as Archicad and Twinmotion in order to bring her scheme to life. Maarya felt this was a valuable starting point in learning how to use these software tools that will help in her future studies.
We want to thank Maarya for joining us in the studio and we wish her all the best for her future studies.
