Private Residential new build home
This new build family home focusses on contrast as a design feature. Contrast within the form, materiality and privacy. The front of the property facing the road utilises a typical form and material pallet influenced by the local vernacular, this approach follows through to minimal glazing creating a sense of shelter to the rest of the property. By steep contrast, the rear of the property utilises contemporary form and materials using zinc cladding and timber elements for shading to create a tactile material palette. The large areas of glazing and simple forms create a contemporary aesthetic that feels far more open and lightweight. The windows at first floor frame views of the rural surrounding from the bedrooms and the ground floor provides an open plan living arrangement which has a strong connection to the sheltered rear garden.
